Welcome! I'm Brittany Sisk, WNC native, artist, entrepreneur, adventurer, world traveler, music enthusiast & boy mama!
One of the most interesting facts about me is that I'm a third generation photographer! I've had a camera in hans sine I was around  eight years old and have been working professionally as an Elopement & Micro Wedding photographer in Asheville (& everywhere) for the last fifteen years! Native to the region, I've hiked all over these Blue Ridge Mountains and can show you all of the most beautiful, off the beaten path places that Asheville and it's surrounding mountains have to offer!
I'm a single mom to a quick witted, clever, funny, sweet, silly seven year old little boy & he is most definitely my "why" and the apple of my eye!
I spent thirteen years shooting traditional 8-10hr wedding days with 150+ guest lists. Two years ago, when my son started kindergarten, I could feel my priorities begin to shift. Today, I am finding so much joy in primarily shooting Elopements & smaller, Micro Weddings! I will still occasionally accept the right larger / traditional wedding if it's something truly special (at a super cool venue, with an awesome couple and I'm a sucker for super fab details!)

BECAME A MOTHER

Shifted gears a bit!

FOUND MY PERSON

2023

Becoming a single mother was never in my grand life plan. But, God doesn't make mistakes and I honestly feel like my life started here... I had stepped into my destiny. This little boy is my whole entire world. Being his mama is everything to me. He is and always will be the best thing I've ever done and my life's greatest blessing.

In early 2022, I made a somewhat subconscious decision to take step back from the wedding industry, to shift gears a bit. I wanted to focus on my family photography business for a while. So, I significantly reduced the number of weddings that I took on that year, opened a portrait studio in downtown Asheville and poured the majority of my time and attention into working on that side of my business! When I came back to Weddings, I knew that I wanted to focus more on Elopements and Micro Weddings. During my semi-hiatus, I had discovered that I actually really liked having weekends with my family and friends AND I really loved having more balance.

Finally! I waited so long for this man to show up! 😅 I grew up vacationing on the coast of SC and had been staying on Folly every summer for the last 7 years! And then when I least expected it (I hate this cliche because people said to me for years, but it's true!), there he was... and he was everything I had ever dreamed of in a partner for me and a role model for my son.

...........more exciting things to come!

Being an Artist, being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart! The industry is heavily saturated and it's a hard industry to make it in. Ever resilient and stubborn, I dug in and I simply refused to fail. I found a mentor, attended workshops & conferences, joined professional organizations, got a business coach and did everything I could learn about business and improve my craft. Fifteen years later, here I am, owning two businesses in Asheville and opening a second studio in Charleston!

STARTED MY BUSINESS IN ASHEVILLE, NC

2009

Most of my generation believed a traditional four year college path was the only way to achieve the American Dream. I went to ECU right out of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to become but I had been a US Congressional Page in high school so  I majored in Political Science.

GRADUATED FROM ECU

A third generation photographer, it feels like photography has just always been part of my life. I was always playing with old cameras as a child and when I was nine, I received my first camera.

When I discovered that my liberal arts degree was basically worthless, I went on to grad school and majored in Public Policy. After that, I finally realized that I didn't want to do that at all....I wanted to be an artist and 15 years later, here I am!

kind words

"Choosing brittany for our wedding photography was the easiest decision we made for our Destination Wedding! She came all the way to Chicago for us, scouted some incredible locations for our photos and was on her A game from the second she arrived! If it were reasonable to have my home covered in my wedding photos I would totally do it because every single picture is just so beautiful! So, if you’re looking for a top notch photographer for one of the best days of your life, trust me, you NEED this one!!"

"We could not possibly be more thrilled with how our wedding photos turned out! Brittany was so easy to communicate with and provided expert guidance on how to be sure we captured the moments that were most meaningful to us. We were stressed about creating the wedding day timeline and she made this process super easy and stress-free. I anticipated that we would really love our photos...but she FAR exceeded our expectations. The photos are easily accessible to us now and we will enjoy them for a lifetime. I would absolutely recommend Asheville Wedding Photography to anyone!!"

Brittany photographed our engagement, my bridal portraits and our micro - wedding! We loved working with her. She was so helpful, flexible, and creative throughout the entire experience! Brittany was responsive and thorough with all of the questions we had, which makes all the difference during the wedding planning process. If Asheville Wedding Photo is on your list of possible photographers, know that her photography and experience really stands out and she is worth every penny!"
